St Mary’s continued their march toward a combination league and cup double on Sunday afternoon.

The Combination One champions thumped holders DHSOB 16-2 in the quarter-finals of the Ascot Hotel Junior Cup to book their place in this coming weekend’s semi-finals.

The Saints were ruthless against their 10-man opponents, Luke Booth leading the way with a five-goal salvo.

Joining the former Union Mills man on the scoresheet at the Bowl was Jamie Skillen, who bagged a hat-trick, Joe Bergqvist (2), Mikey Hutton (2), Jordan Cooper (2), Anthony Bayle and Blagoy Smilyanov.

Union Mills ensured Combination Two would be represented in the last four as they edged past Combi One Laxey 4-5 at Glen Road.

The hosts could only field a team of 10, but a brace from Chris Asbridge and further goals from Will Bergquist and former first-team manager Paul Callow kept them in contention.

The Millers, however, advanced thanks to strikes from Lee Sum, Ben Evans, Kai Stephenson, Dean Corlett and Tom Cain.

St George’s youngsters remain on course for a final spot after they beat Combination Two champions Onchan 4-0 at Glencrutchery Road.

Goals from Ben Wosser, Charlie Gibson, Jonny Quik and a screamer from Dylan Wood made up Geordies’ total.

Corinthians are the other side in the semi-finals after they triumphed 1-3 at Douglas and District.

Brian Tung gave D and D an eighth-minute lead, but the Whites hit back through Tom Lancaster, Jordan Cowin and the prolific Adam McCullough.

The Ballafletcher outfit could have added more, but had a goal not given by referee Jonny Hogg and assistant Winston Taylor, while skipper Stewart Smith had an injury-time penalty saved by D and D keeper Joey Waddington.
