Danny Gerrard has been named as the Canada Life International Premier League Player of the Month for September, writes Dave Norton.

The Corinthians dynamo has enjoyed a fine start to the 2020-21 league campaign and delivered a series of impressive performances in the heart of the Whites’ midfield.

Gerrard played a key role in the Ballafletcher outfit, winning six and drawing one of their opening seven games of the season as they bid to end their wait for the Premier League title.

Notable displays came during his side’s hard-fought 5-3 win over the then in-form Laxey when he produced a man of the match display and scored arguably the goal of the game to boot.

On top of that, Gerrard also netted against Peel and St John’s as he impressed Eric Clague’s player ratings panel to the tune of 11 points during the month, which meant he finished 3.5 points clear of team-mate Matty Quirk.

The Corinthians goalkeeper has also started the season in fine fettle, conceding only eight goals in the opening seven games and playing a starring role in his side’s hard-fought 1-1 draw away at title rivals Rushen United.

The latter’s star player in September was striker Furo Davies who, along with his former St George’s team-mate Ciaran McNulty, garnered 7.5 points which put them joint third for the month.

Completing the top five for September were Ayre United’s Jamie Callister and Laxey’s David Reynolds both on seven points.

As a result, the latter man has taken over the top spot in the standings for the season with 16 points, 0.5 ahead of St John’s counterpart Sam Ingham and two ahead of Rushen’s Alex Maitland.

Picking up the Young Player of the Month accolade for September is Rushen United defender and FC Isle of Man representative Adam Cooil.
