The Isle of Man Football Association representative squad which will face FC Isle of Man in a charity match next month has been announced.
Rushen United and St George’s managers Liam Cowin and Johnny Myers will be in charge of the FA side for the game at the Bowl on Wednesday, December 16 which will raise money for Craig’s Heartstrong Foundation.
Marown’s Nathan Teare has been selected as the sole goalkeeper in the squad, with Rushen duo Alex Maitland and Adam Cooil, St George’s pair Cameron Kay and Conor Birch, Peel’s Tom Wood and Union Mills’ Sam Caine all making up the defensive options.
The eight-man midfield selection comprises St Mary’s trio Sam Gelling, Jack McVey and Frank Jones, Rushen duo Mike Williams and Ste Riding, Geordies’ Joey Quayle, Douglas Royal’s prodigious talent Sam Baines plus Corinthians’ Dan Simpson.
The three attacking players selected for the friendly are the latter’s Corinthians team-mates Sean Doyle and Luke Murray plus St George’s star Ciaran McNulty.
With so many members of the IoMFA squad having played in FC Isle of Man’s first few matches, it will be interesting to see who Ravens boss Chris Bass Sr selects in his team, which will hopefully be announced in the near future.
