St Mary’s Jack McVey picked up the Player of the Year accolade at Thursday evening’s annual football writers awards.
The 28-year-old Isle of Man FA cap received the Gordon Clague Memorial Trophy after an impressive season for the Saints as they broke former club St George’s stranglehold on the Canada Life Premier League title.
The man that masterminded the Bowl outfit’s first top-flight crown since 2003, Alex Harrison, picked up the Manager of the Year award.
Player-manager Harrison guided his team to the title by seven points, winning 19 of the side’s 22 league games and losing only once.
Joe Walters collected the Young Player of the Year award for the second successive campaign after helping fire Laxey to top-flight safety for another season with a 14-goal haul.
Another youngster shining this season has been Marown stopper Harry Horbury, the teenager landing Alf Rigby’s Golden Glove award after being named Goalkeeper of the Year.
The other accolade presented on the evening was the Referee of the Year award which went to John McCallum.
