Marown footballer Sean Jackson has recently been away training with the newly-formed England Amputee Development squad.
The versatile teenager played in the first of six two-day training weekends at Reaseheath College before the World Cup finals in Mexico later this year.
Sean trained with the junior talent ID squad on the Saturday alongside the England elite juniors.
Then on the Sunday he was brought into the senior squad which were the players competing to get into England’s senior and development squads. Jackson joined in the training matches in which he played in a left midfield position, completely different to his usual goalkeeping position.
The Manx player received good feedback from his coaches, England senior manager Owen Coyle Jr and development coach Paul Kelly, who were impressed with his calmness when on the ball.
Afterwards, Sean described it as his best weekend of football since he started the sport a year last October.
Having not really had to compete for a spot in teams for most of his junior football life, Sean is thriving putting everything into getting into the development squad team which will head out to Greece for a friendly international match later this year.
He will be away again this Sunday playing for Manchester City in the Irwin Mitchell Cup where the team will be hoping to do well.
He is then away the following weekend for more England training.
