If Laxey are to avoid relegation to JCK Division Two at the end of the season, realistically they need to win three of their last four league games.

On Saturday, the Miners host Castletown aiming to claw ground back on the two teams directly above them in the standings, namely St John’s and Douglas Royal.

When the Glen Road side travelled to the Stadium in October, Town ran out 4-1 winners.

With so much at stake though, this weekend’s match should be a much closer affair especially if Town aren’t able to utilise their off-island brigade.

Laxey have six points to their name, seven less than the Johnners and Royal who go head-to-head this weekend at Ballafletcher.

The Johnners haven’t won this calendar year, while Royal’s form is only marginally better.

A draw would inch both closer to Premier League football again next term.

At the other end of the league ladder, St Mary’s and fellow title contenders Peel will be aiming to keep the pressure on at the head of the standings.

The pair are locked on 47 points, but with the westerners having played a match more.

The Saints make the short trip to Douglas Athletic for a derby game of sorts this weekend. It’s the Pinks last league game of the campaign, but the carrot of silverware should mean the Saints don’t let them finish on a high.

Peel, on a high after last week’s FA Cup win over Pulrose, travel to DHSOB.

The westerners edged the reverse fixture 3-2, but should be more comfortable winners this weekend against an Old Boys side that has struggled for consistency this term.

Corinthians hopes of overhauling Rushen and landing a top-four finish will require them to win at least two of their last four games. On Saturday they host Marown in a winnable fixture.

The pressure is off the Crosby side at the foot of the standings after last week’s triumph over Castletown and only a peculiar set of results would see them slip into the division’s sole relegation spot.

With this in mind expect the Whites to mop up the points on offer and move within a point of Rushen who have one game left to play.
