Laxey hit back from three goals down to stun Douglas Athletic in the first round proper of the Friends Provident International FA Cup on Saturday afternoon.
The Pinks raced into a 4-1 lead at Glen Road, only for the Miners to turn the game on its head courtesy of a Joe Walters hat-trick, plus strikes from Harry Walters and Stan Manning to seal a dramatic 5-4 win.
In what was expected to be a close game, Corinthians recorded an impressive 5-1 victory away at Rushen United in the south of the island.
Ste Whitley gave the Whites an early lead only for Ste Riding to level matters for the Spaniards, before Rushen keeper Dean Kearns saved a Connor Gorman penalty.
However, Sean Doyle restored Corinthians’ lead before half-time before the Ballafletcher side pulled clear after the break through goals from Doyle and a Dan Simpson brace.
St Mary’s thumped Division Two Union Mills 9-0 at the Bowl.
Frank Jones bundled in at a corner to give the hosts a second-minute lead.
Despite enjoying large swathes of possession the Saints didn’t find the back of the net again till midway through the opening 45 when Connor Birch slotted home a cross from the left.
Darren Hudgeon drove in a third, to give the Premier League title contenders a three-goal cushion at the break.
Four goals in the spate of 10 second-half minutes killed off what Mills resistance that remained.
Jack McVey half-volley from the edge of the area made it 4-0 in the 57th minute, before Jordan Cooper, sub Jordan Crawley and Jones added three more goals in quick succession.
Jones completed his hat-trick for 8-0, McVey adding a ninth from the penalty spot with quarter of an hour left to play.
Peel were also in rampant form as they thumped Marown 8-0 thanks largely to a four-goal haul Shaun Kelly, while there were also braces for Lee Gale and Rhys Oates.
St George’s marched on after they proved too strong for Douglas Royal triumphing 4-1 at Glencrutchery Road thanks to a Furo Davies brace plus goals from Ciaran McNulty and Maleigh Freestone, while JCK Division Two leaders Pulrose United saw off Gymns by a 3-1 scoreline at Springfield Road.
In another all-second division clash in the south of the island, Colby continued their recent resurgence with a 2-0 victory at home to Foxdale thanks to goals from Carl Hickey and Luke Roberts.
The other scheduled clash between DHSOB and Malew was called off as a result of the Blackberry Lane pitch being vandalised.
Only three games took place in JCK Division Two and, with Malew not in action, RYCOB reclaimed second spot thanks to a 4-0 win at home to Governor’s Athletic.
Ramsey are back in to the top four after thrashing Michael United 9-0 at Balleira Road while Ayre United proved too strong for Douglas and District with a 2-0 victory.
