The Isle of Man Football Association has announced a new three-year sponsorship partnership for the Railway Cup with local corporate service provider Dixcart Management (IOM) Limited.
The prestigious annual cup competition sees the top four teams of the Canada Life Premier League at the halfway stage of the season compete in two semi-finals, with the final held traditionally on Boxing Day.
The Railway Cup competition dates back to 1925 and has a long history of excellent games between the top four teams competing for the magnificent trophy.
Isle of Man Football Association president Tony Mepham commented: ’We are delighted that Dixcart have committed to this long-established competition and look forward to a great game of football on Boxing Day.
’This year has been particularly tough for the Association due to Covid and we are pleased that Dixcart got behind our footballing community and supported us in this way.’
Those sentiments were echoed by Stephen Doyle, director of Dixcart Management, who added: ’We are delighted to support the IoMFA in this manner.
’This year has been challenging for us all and affected individuals and sporting bodies alike and not just financially but mentally too, so we are glad to be able to help put something back into sport in the community.
’We are lucky on the island to be able to get together to watch football and we look forward to an exciting final on Boxing Day.
’We wish the four teams all the best as they compete to win the Railway Cup and thank the IoMFA for allowing us to participate too.’
