No fewer than nine different clubs are represented in the latest Isle of Man Newspapers’ Team of the Week.

St Mary’s and Ayre United are the only sides to have more than one player selected in the hypothetical XI following last weekend’s games in the Canada Life Premier League.

St John’s goalkeeper James Rice may have ended up on the losing side as the Saints went down to defeat at Ayre, but his performance in between the sticks was a big reason the score remained close in the 2-1 loss and he therefore dons the No.1 jersey.

Also impressing in Andreas and lining up in a four-man TotW defence in front of him is Ayre’s Jamie Callister who’s joined by James Maginn, Sean Quaye and Daryl Haslett.

Callister produced a solid display at the back for the Tangerines to earn his sixth Team of the Week appearance of the campaign, while the other three players all make their seasonal bows.

Magin starred for St Mary’s at full-back during their 6-2 victory at home to relegation-threatened Douglas Royal, even getting on the scoresheet in the process.

Likewise, Quaye and Haslett shone for St George’s and Laxey during their respective games against Douglas Athletic and Rushen United, the latter helping the Miners to effectively end the Spaniards’ hopes of winning the Premier League title.

Starring for Rushen during the 2-2 draw at Croit Lowey was Michael Williams who scored an excellent goal and therefore takes his place in a three-man Team of the Week midfield.

Joining him are Peel star Lee Gale and Ayre’s Jonny Shields after the former helped the westerners record a high-scoring 6-3 victory over DHSOB at Douglas Road by netting a second-half hat-trick.

Shields was also amongst the goals as he helped the Tangerines claim the aforementioned hard-fought victory over St John’s to earn his fifth Team of the Week call-up of the season so far.

Lining up in a three-man frontline are two players who went head-to-head in Crosby - namely Adam Mealin and Kalvin Koske - as well as St Mary’s ace Matty Kent-Lloyd.

The former pair both impressed as Marown and Ramsey played out a 3-3 draw at the Memorial Playing Fields, with Koske opening the scoring before grabbing a late equaliser for the northerners after Mealin had inspired the hosts to come from behind and nearly snatch all three points.

Kent-Lloyd was the star of the show for St Mary’s as he fired in a hat-trick at the Bowl to help the defending champions see off the spirited challenge of Douglas Royal, a result which keeps the Saints in contention to clinch a top-three finish.
