There’s only four games in the Canada Life Premier League this weekend, but involves teams embroiled in the Railway Cup qualification race.

The current pacesetters, St Mary’s and Rushen United, have already secured their place in competition’s semi-finals, but who will join them is open to debate.

Corinthians, Laxey, Peel and St George’s are all still in with a shot of claiming one of the two other spots up for grabs. The Whites are in pole position to secure one of them as they sit in third on 18 points, but have games in hand on Laxey and Peel who both sit on 17.

In the first of their three games still to count, the Ballafletcher outfit host Pulrose United. Corinthians’ six-game winning streak was brought to a halt by St Mary’s last time out, but they should bounce back against the division’s bottom side.

The latter, however, will be bouyed after claiming a maiden point this season on Saturday against Laxey. Steven Priestinal’s men dented the Miners’ cup hopes with a 3-3 draw at Glen Road to move themselves level on points with second-bottom Ramsey.

Peel could take advantage of the fact Laxey aren’t playing this week to move into the top four with victory over Douglas Royal at Douglas Road. Realistically, the westerners need to win both their remaining games to count against Royal and Douglas Athletic and hope rivals Corinthians and St George’s drop points if they are to have a shot at retaining the impressive silverware.

Ramsey pushed Rushen on Saturday, before two goals in the last 10 minutes sealed a 4-2 win for United in a game that trebled the Ballacloan outfit’s ’Goals For’ column.

A St George’s side still reeling from Saturday’s shock home defeat at the hands of Douglas Athletic are up next for the northerners.

Geordies had several players suspended last week and will still be missing Maleigh Freestone and Furo Davies this weekend. Sean Quaye returns though to bolster the Saints’ backline.

St Mary’s are already home and hosed with regards the Railway Cup, but will be hunting down points as they aim to retain the top-flight crown.

The Saints host Marown this weekend with the Crosby side conceding, on average, five goals a game.
