Peel and St George’s comfortably booked their places in the second round of the Friends Provident FA Cup on Saturday afternoon.
On another weather-affected day in Manx football, many games fell victim to the wet conditions with only a handful going ahead in the FA Cup.
Geordies travelled to Colby and left the Station Fields with an emphatic 8-0 victory.
Furo Davies led the way for the Saints with a hat-trick against his former club and was joined on the scoresheet by Jack McVey, Frank Jones, Chris Bass Jr, Johnny Quirk and Joey Quayle.
Peel went up against Division Two promotion hopefuls RYCOB at Douglas Road and, although they were pushed hard by the northerners, the home side eventually triumphed 5-0.
Shaun Kelly opened the scoring for the westerners inside the opening three minutes and that’s the way it remained until half-time as the second division team frustrated their more illustrious opponents.
In the second half though, the returning Lee Gale grabbed a hat-trick and Kelly helped himself to another goal as the home side ran out 5-0 winners.
Douglas Athletic returned to form in style with a thumping 6-0 victory at home to Douglas Royal. The game was effectively over inside the opening five minutes as Martin Cowan scored two early goals, before Daniel Pennington curled in a fine free-kick before half-time.
After the interval, Cowan completed his hat-trick and there were further goals for Connor Dowell and Mikey Callister to complete the rout.
Just around the corner at the Bowl, St Mary’s cruised into the next round with a resounding 7-0 win over second division outfit Ayre United.

The latter’s former side Castletown were pushed all the way by Gymns in an all-Division Two clash switched from Tromode to the Stadium.
Jamie Cadwallader, Ciaran Brown and Joel Callow put the southerners in control but goals from Adam Johnson, Ross Crawford and Nick Clague ensured the match went the distance, with Town holding their nerve to win 4-2 on penalties.
In JCK Division Two, there were only two games played. In a repeat of last week’s cup meeting, Governor’s Athletic hosted Michael United at Bemahague and once again it proved to be a dramatic affair.
Seven days earlier United had come from 4-1 down to draw 5-5 and send the match to penalties where they won 12-11.
Governor’s again raced into a two-goal lead but the visitors pulled a goal back and then snatched a draw right at the death thanks to an 88th minute penalty.
Elsewhere, Foxdale closed the gap on the top four to three points thanks to an emphatic 5-0 win away at Union Mills.
The Billy Goat Park side were in fine form as braces from Charlie Harrison and Jay Chatwood plus a Matthew Moffatt strike sealed the three points.
