Peel ended St Georges’ unbeaten start to the season with a dramatic victory in the Canada Life Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Geordies appeared to be on course for an important win when Furo Davies gave the hosts a first-half lead at Glencrutchery Road.

However, Peel turned the game on its head in a six-minute spell after the break when Lee Gale levelled the scores with a cross which deceived everyone and nestled into the back of the net.

Within seconds, the visitors had completed the turnaround when the impressive Rhys Oates set up Matthew Woods to lash home their second and, moments later, Gale added his second against the stunned champions.

Chris Bass Jr pulled a goal back right at the death for Geordies, but it proved too little too late as Peel held on to claim three points and move to the top of the table after previous leaders St Marys’ game at DHSOB was called off.

There was also drama at the other end of the table as St John’s came from behind to snatch a last-gasp win away at Laxey.

Joe Walters had given the Miners a first-half lead, only for Johnny Holland to grab an equaliser immediately after the break. Just when it seemed the teams would have to settle for a share of the spoils, up popped Cian Brock to net a dramatic injury-time winner against his former club.

Corinthians moved up to second in the table thanks to an emphatic 5-0 victory over Castletown at Ballafletcher, a result which also secured their place in this season’s Railway Cup.

Sean Doyle once again led the way for the Whites with a brace and he was joined on the scoresheet by Dan Simpson, Luke Murray and an own goal.

There was also a big win for Rushen United who brushed aside Marown 6-0 at Croit Lowey. Amongst the scorers for the Spaniards was former Geelong, Halifax and Altrincham striker Dan Hattersley on his debut.

Josh Kelly and captain Stephen Riding each grabbed a brace for the hosts and the scoring was completed by Ryan Crawley.

On a weather-affected fixture programme, only two games went ahead in JCK Division Two.

Leaders RYCOB increased their advantage at the top of the standings to five points thanks to a 4-0 win over Douglas and District, Daniel Sherry leading the way with a brace and he was joined on the scoresheet by Jason Craine and Marc McClurg.

In-form Gymns continued their impressive march up the league table thanks to a 3-2 victory at home to Governor’s Athletic.

Matthew Odgen and Daniel Laughlin scored for Athletic but a double from Max Stokoe plus a strike from Wesley Gibson sealed the points for Tony Sewell’s men from Tromode.
