After a weather-enforced hiatus last weekend, the JCK Division Two season will hopefully resume this Saturday with a full programme of fixtures.

The game of the day is arguably at Ballacloan Stadium where relegated Ramsey host fellow title and promotion hopefuls Foxdale.

The northerners kicked off their campaign with a comprehensive 6-0 win over out-of-sorts Colby who lost a large number of players on the eve of the new season.

It wasn’t quite as straightforward for Foxdale who were pushed all the way at Governor’s Athletic but John Roberts’s men eventually triumphed 3-2 to get off to a winning start.

With both sides harbouring ambitions of silverware at the end of the season, neither will want to lose ground this early in the campaign so expect a possibly nervy affair which could well go either way.

Also in the north of the island, there’s a derby on the cards in Andreas where Ayre United play host to RYCOB at the Playing Fields.

Both teams enjoyed wins on the opening day, with Youthie edging past Union Mills by the odd goal in seven at Garey Mooar while the Tangerines battled past Gymns 2-1.

RYCOB will go into the game as favourites to claim the three points on offer but with northern bragging rights on the line, Ayre will be hoping to make life difficult for their Ramsey rivals.

Tipped by many to challenge for the title, Onchan suffered a narrow 1-0 reverse at the hands of Pulrose United on the opening weekend and therefore they’ll be chomping at the bit to get some points on the board to kickstart their season.

This Saturday sees the Os welcome Michael United to the Nivison Stadium and the hosts will be favourites to get the better of the Balleira Road side but they will need to wary against complacency as United pushed Malew hard in their opening day defeat to the southerners.

Onchan’s conquerors, Pulrose, will be hoping to make it two wins from two when they host Colby at Springfield Road.

Under the guidance of player-manager Steven Priestnal, Pully have a wealth of talent in their ranks and have been tipped by many to challenge for the title and promotion to the top flight.

After the aforementioned player exodus, it looks like it is going to be a season of transition at the Station Fields for Colby and this Saturday’s game could well turn into a long day at the office for the southerners.

Malew enjoyed a busy and productive summer transfer window and manager Cal Alexander has a talented squad at his disposal which should be pushing for at least a top-four finish.

A 5-2 win over plucky Michael United was a decent start and they should claim another win this weekend when they host Gymns at Clagh Vane, although the latter’s manager Tony Sewell will have been heartened by his side’s showing at Ayre on the opening day despite a narrow 2-1 defeat.

The final game in JCK Division Two this weekend sees Douglas and District make the short trip to Bemahague where they face Governor’s Athletic.

Both teams tasted defeat on matchday one but, while D&D were punished 6-1 by Union Mills, Governor’s produced a battling display as they went down fighting 2-3 against promotion hopefuls Foxdale.

Expect a close but entertaining contest between the sides but, should Governor’s repeat their performance again Foxdale, they may prove too strong for their opponents from Noble’s Park.
