Once again, there’s big games at the top and bottom of the Canada Life Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

At the foot of the standings, the race to avoid the division’s sole relegation spot looks set to rumble on until the end of the season with no one yet to be cut adrift.

Two of the bottom four go head to head at Crosby this weekend as Marown play host to Douglas Royal.

The latter have been in good form and are unbeaten in their last four games in all competitions.

This run has propelled Michael Fitzmaurice’s side into a heady ninth place, seven points clear of bottom spot and Laxey.

Opponents Marown are a point ahead of the Miners, but with a couple of games in hand.

Dave Brew’s men took a valuable point off Douglas Athletic last time out after a spate of postponements made for a frustrating end to 2018.

The pair are yet to meet this season, but the momentum behind Royal at the moment might just see them snare the points.

Bottom side Laxey lost a nine-goal thriller with Royal 4-5 last week as their defence continues to leak on average five goals a game.

Points look unlikely again this weekend as league leaders Peel visit Glen Road. Ominously for John Palmer’s young side, the westerners won the reverse fixture 11-1.

St Mary’s trail Peel by four points, but have a couple of games in hand on their title rivals.

To take advantage of that though the Saints need to keep winning. This will be easier said than done on Saturday as Alex Harrison’s side travel to Rushen United. The Spaniards sit third in the standings and are unbeaten since the start of November.

St George’s and Corinthians will continue to chip away as they jostle to be in prime position if there are any slip ups by the pacesetters.

Geordies travel to Castletown, while the Whites host a Douglas Athletic side that sits only two points worse off than them in the league.

Finally, a close game looks on the cards at Mullen-e-Cloie where St John’s United take on DHSOB.

The hosts have been inconsistent to say the least this season, but Old Boys are short on game time and may yet cough up some points.
