Rushen United and Corinthians shared the spoils in the Canada Life Premier League top-of-the-table clash on Saturday afternoon.

The two sides widely tipped by many to be the main frontrunners for the title went toe-to-toe at Croit Lowey and it was the visitors who took the lead just before half-time through Luke Murray.

But Jamie Johnston levelled matters for the Spaniards shortly after the break and that’s how the score remained until the end.

That result allowed Laxey and St George’s to close the gap at the top of the table after they both recorded victories.

Laxey were made to work hard at St John’s but in the end two penalties from Michael Fernandes and a Darryl Haslett strike earned the Miners a 3-2 victory.

Geordies proved too strong for Ayre United at Glencrutchery Road where goals from Johnny Myers, Chris Bass Jr, Ciaran McNulty, Connor Birch and Ben Wosser earned a 5-2 success over the Tangerines.

Elsewhere, it was honours even in the north of the island where Ramsey and Douglas Royal played out a 1-1 draw at Ballacloan after goals from Dylan Pickles and Taylor Andrews, while Douglas Athletic came from 2-0 down to snatch a late 2-2 draw against Peel at Springfield Road. Charlie Higgins and Luke Doherty had put the westerners in command but goals from James Aire and Martin Cowan in the final 10 minutes earned a point for the Pinks.

At Blackberry Lane, St Mary’s came out on top against DHSOB by five goals to two thanks to braces from Matty Kent-Lloyd and Frank Jones plus a Karl Clark strike.

In JCK Division Two, leaders Union Mills ran riot against Governor’s Athletic at Garey Mooar where they romped to a 12-1 win, while title rivals RYCOB were also in good form when recording a 6-1 victory over Douglas and District.

Malew were also in ruthless form as they fired in 11 goals without reply at home to Michael United, while the high-scoring theme continued at Nivison Stadium where Foxdale got the better of Onchan 6-3.

The points were shared in Castletown where the Mets played out a 1-1 draw with Braddan, while there are no details of the Colby v Pulrose United clash at the Station Fields.
