The second half of the draw for the preliminary round of the Friends Provident International-sponsored FA Cup has thrown up some potentially one-sided affairs.
Premier League St George’s will be firm favourites to get the better of Castletown in an all-top flight clash at Glencrutchery Road.
Geordies currently lie fourth in the table some 20 points clear of this opponents and will be expected to comfortably see off the challenge of the southern team to continue their quest for yet more silverware to add to the Glencrutchery Road trophy cabinet.
Likewise, fellow Premier League high-fliers St Mary’s will be red hot favourites to brush aside Division Two strugglers Michael United. The game should take place at the Bowl if the storm damaged is fixed in time, if not it is likely to be played at Colby’s Station Fields ground.
The Saints are currently second in the top flight, whereas the westerners lie second-bottom in Division Two, therefore a big scoreline could be on the cards.
Gymns endured a tough start to the season but Tony Sewell’s men enjoyed an impressive resurgence as the first half of the campaign wore on and could spring a surprise in this game, although Onchan will start as favourites.
