St Mary’s hopes of a combination league and cup double faces its latest hurdle on Sunday afternoon.

The Saints meet holders DHSOB at the Bowl in one of the weekend’s four Ascot Hotel Junior Cup quarter-finals.

The pair met only last week as St Mary’s clinched the Combination One title with a narrow 3-2 victory at Blackberry Lane.

This should be another close game, but expect the Saints to advance into the competition’s semi-finals.

Three Combination Two sides have battled their way through to the last-eight stage.

Second-tier champions Onchan get the opportunity to test their mettle against Combi One opposition when they make the short trip to St George’s. The latter side will start the tie as favourites after the Glencrutchery Road youngsters finished the league season with a run of only one defeat in their last nine games.

Onchan’s fellow Combi Two side Union Mills might make some more headway when they take on Laxey.

The Miners have been inconsistent this term, but should just edge past their opponents and rack up a third straight win over Combi Two opponents in this competition.

Douglas and District are the other side flying the Combination Two flag this Sunday.

They also face a tough test at Noble’s Park in the shape of a Corinthians side that finished third in Combi One.
