Arguably Manx football’s most local derby takes place in the Canada Life Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Only a couple of metres separate the pitches of Pulrose United and Douglas Athletic at Springfield Road. The pair are also only separated by goal difference in the fledgling top-flight standings.

Pully, who host Saturday’s game, currently sit bottom after defeats against last season’s top two St Mary’s and St George’s.

DAFC have also been on the wrong end of a big scoreline, losing to Corinthians 11-2 in their sole game thus far this campaign.

This should be as close a match as the two clubs’ proximity and both sides may have to settle for a point as they try to break their seasonal duck.

Marown are another one of six Premier League sides yet to register a point.

David Brew’s Crosby outfit host in-form Laxey this weekend, with the latter team aiming to make it three wins out of three.

Both sides were tipped pre-season to feature in the league’s lower reaches, but the Miners’ fine start has got John Palmer’s young charges focusing their sights firmly in the league’s top-half.

The Glen Road outfit, you’d expect, will now by minus their not insignificant university contingent. However, with the club’s second string also boasting an 100 per cent start, the squad depth should be there to get something out of the trip to the Farmers.

Reigning champions St Mary’s title defence has gone to plan thus far, and Alex Harrison’s table toppers will be favourites to make it three wins from three when they visit promoted Ramsey this weekend.

Also favourites to maintain their 100 per cent record will be St George’s who make the short trip to an DHSOB side that has shipped 14 goals in only two games.

The division’s other fixture takes place at Ballafletcher, where Douglas Royal finally kick-off their campaign. Castletown’s first team’s demise and a scheduled free week mean that Royal are yet to kick a ball in anger. They host a Rushen side that also sat last week out, but scored a good 6-0 win over Marown on the season’s opening weekend. The Spaniards should win this one.
