Hospital Cup holders St George’s stand in the way of St Mary’s as the latter aim to complete a league and cup double on Friday evening at the Bowl.

The Premier League’s top two sides meet in the finale of the Keystone Law-sponsored competition, in a game that should provide plenty of end-of-season entertainment.

The pair have met three times thus far this campaign.

On the opening day of the season, they drew 1-1, before St Mary’s edged the reverse fixture at Glencrutchery Road 3-2 in November.

A few short weeks later though, Geordies claimed a resounding 4-0 win in the pair Railway Cup semi-final - a rare blip in what has been a very good season for the South Douglas club.

Both teams have finished the campaign strongly, Geordies putting a good run of form together to pip Peel and Corinthians to the top-flight’s runner-up spot.

St George’s second-place finish should be commended, when you consider the club lost half a dozen of its first-team squad in the summer.

The youngsters that have stepped up into the void created have all impressed and a cup victory would be testament to their hard work under Chris Bass Sr this season.

Geordies will be boosted by the return from college in the United States of Joe Quayle and their only absentee looks to be the injured Sam Caine.

For St Mary’s, two of those that were a key part of St George’s all-conquering side of the last decade will of course line up against their former club on Friday in the shape of Frank Jones and Jack McVey. The Bowl side will be missing Josh Thomas who has moved to Dubai, but should have the strength in depth to cover the loss of the Isle of Man FA winger.

What should be a humdinger kicks off at 7pm.

l One of the tightest Division Two title races in recent memory will be decided on Saturday afternoon as Hospital Cup semi-finalists Foxdale and Ramsey go head-to-head at Billy Goat Park.
