In-form Corinthians put a six-game winning streak on the line when they travel to reigning champions St Mary’s in the Canada Life Premier League on Saturday.

The Whites have bounced back from an opening-day defeat to put together a 100 per cent record since then.

That sequence includes notable wins over Railway Cup qualification rivals Rushen, Peel and Laxey.

The league-leading Saints have also only lost once, to Rushen, but can be overhauled in the standings by the weekend’s opponents if the Whites win both their games in hand.

Both squads look well matched making Saturday’s result hard to call. The result, however, will give us some indication as to who will be featuring at the sharp end of the standings come May.The aforementioned duo both look very likely to feature in the Railway Cup semi-final draw.

Who will join them remains open to debate with four other teams realistically in the mix.

Like Corinthians, St George’s still have four games left to count starting with a home fixture with Douglas Athletic on Saturday.

Athletic have lost their last four on the bounce and will do well to get out of this rut against a Geordies side that has a 100 per cent record at Glencrutchery Road this term.

Rushen play their last first-half-of-the season game this weekend when they host Ramsey. The Spaniards have a formidable record at Croit Lowey and they should make relatively short work of the northerners who are averaging a goal every 450 minutes.

Laxey are currently clinging onto a top-four spot, but their Cup hopes took a big blow with defeat last weekend against Corinthians.

The Miners will be expected to bounce back this time out at home to bottom side Pulrose United.

The other side in cup contention, Peel, face a sterner test when they host a DHSOB side that pushed Rushen all the way on Saturday.

The westerners need to win though if they are to have any hope of retaining the impressive silverware.

Douglas Royal host Marown in the day’s other game, with both looking to put distance between themselves and the Premier League’s other stragglers.
