Matters at the foot of the Canada Life Premier League take centre stage on Saturday afternoon.

The bottom two go head-to-head this weekend with Pulrose United playing host to Douglas Royal at Springfield Road.

Pully currently prop up the table with only a solitary point to their name from their 13 league games they have played thus far.

Royal are three points better off and have played two fixtures less than their opponents on Saturday.

The pair are yet to meet this season, this weekend’s game being a rearranged fixture from the first half of the campaign.

Michael Fitzmaurice’s young Royal team’s performances have improved as the season wore on and they should take the points in this one to put some breathing space between themselves and the relegation spot.

Ramsey will also be aiming to put some distance between themselves and the division’s ejector seat when they face Douglas Athletic at Ballacloan.

The northerners currently sit third-bottom, above Royal on goal difference.

These pair only met a couple of weeks ago, with two goals from Ste Cowan handing Athletic a 2-1 win at Springfield Road.

This one should also be a close game, especially with Pinks manager Craig Purvis’s looking for a reaction from his side following last weekend’s 3-1 defeat at the hands of Marown.

The Crosby side, who have a six-point buffer now over Pulrose, are also back in action this weekend when they host St George’s.

Marown scored their first home goals of the league campaign on Saturday as they beat Douglas Athletic, but a less fruitful afternoon looks in store this week against a Geordies side who won the reverse fixture 7-1 last month.

St Mary’s lead at the top of the standings could be up to 12 points by teatime on Saturday if they beat DHSOB.

The reigning champions head the standings by nine at the moment, albeit having played a couple of games more than most.

St Mary’s won the reverse fixture 7-0, but this should be closer.
