Jack McVey has racked up an incredible 10th Team of the Week appearance of the season in Isle of Man Newspapers’ latest hypothetical XI.

The St Mary’s maestro has enjoyed a stellar season for the Saints since switching from rivals St George’s last summer, helping his side lead the way in the chase for the Canada Life Premier League title.

The Bowl outfit continued their march at the top of the table with a comprehensive 5-0 win over Douglas Royal at the national stadium last weekend, and no fewer than three of McVey’s team-mates join him in the latest TotW.

Donning the Team of the Week goalkeeper gloves for the third time this season is Kiril Velev who pulled off several impressive saves during his side’s victory against Royal.

Slotting in alongside McVey in a three-man defence are St George’s duo Cameron Kay and Chris Walsh who both shone for the Glencrutchery Road juggernauts during their hard-fought win at Douglas Athletic, Kay helping himself to a rare brace in their 3-1 success.

McVey isn’t the only St Mary’s player who has been earning plenty of TotW call-ups this season, with Frank Jones claiming his sixth appearance this week after a good showing against Royal.

Joining Jones in a five-man midfield are team-mate Declan Cummins, Douglas Athletic’s Reece Lake and Castletown duo Conor Garrett and Jack Camarda.

Cummins delivered a man of the match performance at the Bowl as he grabbed a goal in the Saints’ 5-0 win, while Lake shone for the Pinks against Geordies despite ending up on the losing side at Springfield Road.

Camarda helped himself to two crucial goals as Town all but secured their place in the top flight again next season thanks to a 4-2 success at Marown, during which Garrett was also in fine form for the Mets.

Two more players also impressing at the Memorial Playing Fields in Crosby were Marown’s Stuart Morris and Town’s Jamie Cadwallader.

Morris was one of the best players on the pitch as he scored a brace and was perhaps unlucky to be on the losing side, while Cadwallader shone for the visitors and wrapped up the win late on with his side’s fourth goal.

Claiming the refereeing honours in the latest Team of the Week is Matty Shaw for the first time this season after impressing in the middle of Athletic versus Geordies.
