After ’Survival Saturday’ left Laxey a step closer to relegation, Marown and Castletown can put further space between themselves and the Miners this weekend.

The pair meet in Crosby in one of Saturday’s four rearranged games in the Canada Life Premier League and currently enjoy a seven and six point advantage over Laxey respectively.

A win for either would probably just about secure their top-flight status for another season, with only four games left to play.

As it happens the two promoted sides are yet to face each other this season, but both emerged with important victories last weekend.

Marown will be missing both Lewis Brew and Alex McQuarrie who are suspended after being sent off last week. It also remains to be seen how many of Castletown university brigade are still on island with many home for half-term last weekend.

At the other end of the standings, Peel need to keep winning if they are to take advantage of any slip ups by title rivals St Mary’s, but will face a tough test against Corinthians.

The Whites lost to Rushen last time out, but held Peel to a draw in the reverse fixture. A similar result would dent Peel’s hopes of a first top-flight trophy since 2002 even further.

St Mary’s themselves will be favourites to take the points when they meet Douglas Royal, while in the afternoon’s other match, St George’s should edge past Douglas Athletic as they aim to keep hold of third spot.
