The Evolution Elite Development Programme (EDP) welcomed coaches from Tranmere Rovers to one of its sessions at St John’s before Christmas.
The EDP was set up in the island recently to try and unearth a youngster that has the ability to join an elite professional club’s junior ranks.
It is run by Mike Jolliffe in conjunction with island-based coaches Nigel Shimmin, Chris Higgins and Richard Jackson.
Commenting on the session Jolliffe said: ’Shaun Garnett is Tranmere’s international manager of coaching, while Paul Morrison is one of Rovers’ full-time under-11 coaches.
’They were blown away with all aspects and standards on show. The EDP has been invited to go over and both play and take part in sessions with the club in the new year.
’This link will increase opportunities for EDP players but also accelerate standards in the island.’
