There’s a heady mix of fixtures in the Canada Life Premier League on Saturday, with one of the outstanding first-half-of-the-season games set to be played.

Pulrose’s clash with Corinthians has been switched to Ballafletcher and will in effect be the postponed fixture from earlier in the season.

This means the points from it will count toward Railway Cup qualification, something Corinthians remain very much in the hunt for.

It will be the Whites first game since the passing of midfielder Fraser Vaughan, but expect Blane Slattery’s side to secure a comfortable win over the top-flight’s basement side in what is sure to be an emotionally-charged afternoon at Ballafletcher.

The day’s other four Premier League matches all are second-half games as scheduled.

There’s a Douglas derby of sorts at Blackberry Lane where Old Boys host Athletic.

The Pinks come into the match off the back of a good 5-2 win over near neighbours Pulrose last week. At the same time, Old Boys were beaten by St George’s 4-0 in what was their first game in several weeks, but this one should be a close affair, the reverse fixture hinting at what might be to come as it ended 5-5.

Douglas Royal return to action after a more than a month off when they host Peel at Ballafletcher.

Royal last played on December 7 ironically enough away at Peel in a match that ended 4-2 to the westerners.

Eight of Royal’s youngsters were involved in the Isle of Man FA’s under-18 squad that lost to Essex on Sunday in the FA County Youth Cup.

Therefore they might not be as rusty as the prolonged break would suggest and should push Peel again as they try and put space between themselves and the division’s relegation spot.

With Rushen not in action again, St Mary’s can pull away further at the head of the standings with victory at second-bottom Marown.

A Saints win would give them a nine-point advantage albeit having played two more games than the Spaniards.

St George’s could leapfrog Rushen into second if they return back from a trip to Ramsey with all three points.

Geordies won the reverse 6-1 and should win this one.
