It could once again be all change at the top of the JCK Division Two league table after this weekend’s round of fixtures.
No fewer than four teams are all locked together on 21 points at the top, with the next four only a handful of points further back in what is shaping up to be one of the best second tier title races in recent memory.
Leaders Union Mills face a potentially tricky trip south to take on Malew where they will be favourites, but most eyes will be on two other games in the division, namely the clashes between Ayre United versus Foxdale plus St John’s against Colby.
Ayre lie second level with Mills on points but three goals behind their rivals and this weekend they face a tough test when they host Foxdale in Andreas. The visitors lie only five points off first at the moment but have two games in hand so all signs indicate this will be a tight battle with very little to separate the sides.
Third-placed St John’s are another side locked on 21 points and they welcome sixth-placed Colby to Mullen-e-Cloie this Saturday. The Saints will be slight favourites to win but, with the in-form Carl Hickey up front, the Moonlighters will be confident.
A northern derby of sorts is on the cards at Balleira Road where Michael United entertain RYCOB - the latter will be expected to edge this one to maintain their push for the top four. There’s also a derby at Bemahague where Governor’s Athletic host neighbours Onchan, while Gymns visit Braddan.
