For the third week in a row, Marown and Onchan are hoping to battle it out on Saturday afternoon.
The two sides had been due to play each other in JCK Division Two at the end of January and then in the GH Corlett Woods Cup last weekend, but both games succumbed to the wet weather. Therefore, they will be hoping it’s a case of third-time lucky this time around when they go head-to-head in their rescheduled Woods Cup preliminary round tie.
The match is one of three fixtures set to take place in the competition, with the other two being Malew versus Pulrose United and Union Mills at home to RYCOB.
There should be goals galore at Clagh Vane where Malew and Pully go head-to-head. Paul Guiver’s Springfield Road side have the quality to go all the way in this competition but it remains to be seen how they can bounce back from defeat to Marown last time out. The excellent form of Dean Kinley means Malew have every chance of piling more misery on Pulrose, therefore this could go either way.
RYCOB will start as favourites against Union Mills and the northerners will be keen to avenge a 2-1 defeat at the hands of the Millers earlier in the season. That result sparked a drop in form for Youthie which put a dent in their title aspirations.
Both sides go into the match on the back of heavy 5-0 defeats last weekend, RYCOB going down fighting to Premier League heavyweights Peel at Douglas Road while Mills lost at home to Foxdale in the league. Therefore, both teams will be desperate to get back to winning ways this time around.
Elsewhere, Foxdale will be expected to record acomfortable victory in the day’s only JCK Division Two match when they host Ayre United at Billy Goat Park.
