Corinthians were crowned Nedbank Women’s League title winners for a record seventh time on Wednesday evening after defeating DHSOB 14-0 at Ballafletcher.

Leading 8-0 at the break, Casey Halsall (3), Chloe Teare (3), Lisa Costain (2), Melissa Bell (2), Shannon Groves (2), Steph Hall and Jade Burden netted for the Whites. The match was played 35 minutes each way.

Under the management of Jason Corkill and captaincy of Burden, the Whites have secured the title seven times all of these within the last decade.

Last season the Ballafletcher still clinched the crown despite having to endure a points deduction. What has made their campaign as impressive this time round is that they completed the league season with an 100 per cent record, conceding only two goals with a paper-thin squad.

Corinthians will be in action again on Sunday in the 16th Nedbank FA Cup final where they face Peel.

These two teams have met twice previously in the final of this competition. Corinthians were winners in 2014-15 with a 3-2 scoreline while the westerners won the cup the following season by the same scoreline.

Should the Whites win this competition, they will complete a third women’s Grand Slam adding to their already impressive honours’ board which consists of seven league titles, six Floodlit Cups and four FA Cups. Should Peel secure the trophy, it will be only the third major honour the westerners have won.

Kick-off is 2.45pm at the Bowl.
