The quarter-finals of the men’s and women’s Grant Thornton Isle of Man Golf Championships took place at Ramsey Golf Club on Wednesday evening.
Defending champion Paul Lowey’s quest for a sixth island title was ended by two-time former winner Kevin Moore who edged past him 1 up over the 18 holes.
Two other former champions went head-to-head at it was Daryl Callister who got the better of his good friend Tom Harris 3 and 2, while Jonathan Corke’s bid for a second title continues after he saw off the challenge of Lee Morgan 4 and 4.
Tom Gandy remains on course for a maiden island championship after he proved too strong for home player Danny Foulis, Gandy triumphing 5 and 4 to set up a clash against his friend Callister, while in the other semi-final Corke will take on Moore.
In the women’s quarter-finals, Shirley Price’s ominous form continued as she beat Jane Gaines 1 up to book her place in the last four.
There she will meet Joy Morris who claimed arguably the result of the round by knocking out Kayleigh Dawson 1up.
Breeshey Jansen’s defence of the title gathered pace thanks to a 4 and 3 win over Island Games team-mate Catherine Cassidy while the other quarter-final clash saw Lynda Simpson get the better of Ruth Pigott 2 and 1.
