The latest women’s competition at Rowany Golf Club was a waltz which was played under lovely blue skies.

This event involves a team of three with one player to score on hole one, two on hole two, three on hole three and repeat.

Confusion can arise for those teams starting on, say, hole 15 but the ability to count in threes is always useful. Extra complications arise when the numbers playing mean that there is a team of two.

Joan Guy, Jasmine Heginbotham and Margaret Pimblett were the winners with 73 points, but hard on their heels with 72 were Heather Skinner, Michelle Hooker and Pauline Bedford.

Last Wednesday, Karen Slack won the nine-hole competition with 18 points. Also this week, Jasmine Heginbotham presented the 2021 Gross Trophy to Elaine Heselton, as the latter was unable to be at the AGM recently.

Former lady captain Joan Guy gave a cheque for £700 to Graham Bell of the Alzheimer’s Society last week, this being the amount raised from her charity bunker jar.
