Ben Grainger recently attended the British Swimming Summer Championships at the Tollcross Commonwealth Pool in Glasgow.
The event is an integrated able-bodied and Para multi-class meet, the Para element being open age group only.
Ben’s national rankings qualified him entry for all four of his nominated events, the 50m, 100m and 400m freestyle races and the 100m breaststroke.
The 16-year-old swam well in all his heats and, although just outside his personal bests, he recorded season’s best times in each event and retained his British number one ranking for breaststroke.
He was one of only three athletes in his S10 class to make finals, reaching both the 50m and 100m freestyle open finals with more season’s best times.
Grainger ended the championships with an invite as one of only 10 athletes to join the full Great Britain Para Swim team in London for the pre-event training camp at the World Championships being held in the Olympic Pool next month.
Ben would like to thank the team at Isle of Man Sport and Microgaming for their ongoing support.
