Manx Hockey Association is planning to complete the current season immediately prior to the start of the next campaign.

Like all sports, hockey came to an abrupt halt in March when the island went into lockdown. The sport’s governing body has been working behind the scenes trying to find a solution to the outcome of the 2019-20 season.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the association said: ’The MHA board would like to advise all clubs that the MHA had given due consideration to all relevant information available to us at this time.

’We believe the most appropriate solution to conclude the outstanding 2019-2020 men’s/women’s/under-16s Rossborough Insurance Leagues is for them to be played immediately prior to the start of the 2020-2021 season.

’We would then firm up dates for hockey to re-commence allowing for some training sessions before the actual matches go ahead. The u13s boys’ end-of-season tournament will look to be played prior to the start of the 2020-2021 junior season.

’The men’s and women’s cup and plate competitions will not be played for the 2019-2020 season.

’Subject to ongoing advice, if we are not able to start hockey again by August, the board will revisit the above and make a further decision on the conclusion of the 2019-2020 season. Should anyone have any questions please contact on [email protected]
