This weekend’s hockey returns with several tantalising fixtures featuring relegation battles and promotion pushes galore.

In the PwC Premier League, top-of-the-table Bacchas take on second place Vikings.

Bacchas will be seeking to maintain their 100 per cent record, but Vikings are also on hot form, only dropping one point in four games.

If Bacchas win, they will surely have one firm hand on the league title.

Valkyrs play Ramsey which will be a hard game to call. Traditionally, Valkyrs will go into the fixture as the favourites but the northerners have been well above par this season and will be buoyed by their 10-2 thrashing of Harlequins last weekend.

Arguably the match of the day will be the relegation battle between Harlequins and Bacchas B. Both teams are yet to record a point this season and so both will be going into this game with all at stake. Whoever loses this fixture may come face to face with the drop zone.

Over in Division One, Castletown Celts play a surprising bottom-of-the-table Valkyrs B. Celts are neck-in-neck with Vikings B at top of the table, being pipped by goal difference.

Celts will be seeking to get back to the top, with Valkyrs looking to be safe from the relegation zone.

Leaders Vikings B take on Castletown Cammags, with Vikings favourites going into the game. However, Cammags held their first team to a draw and shouldn’t be underestimated.

Another tight affair is in prospect when Saracens Sabres take on Bacchas C, both teams being comfortably mid-table.

The two sides have the advantage of quick and young players, so a high-scoring game should be on the cards.

In Division Two, league leaders Ramsey Ravens are against Bacchas Colts. Ramsey are on top form, scoring 28 goals in four games, and thus should maintain their 100 per cent start to the season.

A struggling Ramsey Rookies take on a Vikings C side. The latter sit comfortably in second place but should not take a young Rookies side for granted as they may easily get caught on the break.

The last game in Division Two sees a Peel derby when Valkyrs C take on Valkyrs D, with both teams playing for the westerners’ bragging rights.

In Division Three, the game of the day will be when top-of-the-table Vikings Colts take on second place Saracens Colts. Both of whom will be playing for the title and, if Saracens win, they will go joint first in the standings.

Elsewhere, Castletown Southerners will be seeking to record their first points against Harlequins Colts.

The final game sees Bacchas D take on Saracens Sharks, which will again be a hard game to call.

On paper Saracens would be the underdogs, but anything could happen on the day.
