Juan Kinley won his age group at Ironman Copenhagen on Sunday.

The Manx Tri Club chairman finished first in the 55-59 division of the men’s race, coming home more than one minute ahead of Germany’s Frank Schreiner.

Kinley was 12th after the 3.9km swim, stopping the clock at 1 hr 05 min 08 sec as he headed into the first transition.

The Douglas man moved to the head of his age group in the 180.2km cycle with a time of 4hr 44min 28 sec, before crosing the line in 9:53.18 after the 42.2km run.

Kinley was joined in the Danish capital by fellow Manx Tri Club member Matthew Gold who completed his maiden Ironman.

The 32-year-old finished the gruelling event in 12:10.50 after a swim of 1:08.52, cycle of 5:44.48 and run of 5:07.26.
