David Knight finished third in the two-and-a-half-hour Tough One extreme enduro at Nantmawr Quarry near Oswestry on Sunday.

He was one of only three Pro-class riders to complete 11 laps of a gruelling course, finishing behind Graham Jarvis and South African Travis Teasdale.

Juan Knight rode a similar 300 Gas Gas to fifth place overall on nine laps, one more than his nearest rival in the expert veteran class.

There was a strong performance from Grant Thomson in his first extreme event, finishing 15th out of 28 in the expert clas.

Juan’s son, Tom Knight, finished runner-up in the shorter clubman event on six laps, third in the combined standings for the morning race (with the veteran and sportsman riders). He’d targeted a possible top-10.

Conor Cummins was 15th clubman home (32nd overall) and Mark Crellin sixth in the over-50s (49th overall), both on four laps. Sid de Backer completed three laps for 15th in the clubman veteran class (64th overall).

l Jamie McCanney finished ninth at Le Touquet after a number of bike issues.
