There was disappointment for Vagabonds Ladies as Leigh grabbed a last-minute match winner to take the points at Ballafletcher on Saturday.

Vagas led 17-0 at half-time in the Women’s NC1 North West clash thanks to Jules Harrison crossing twice and Daisee Sewell grabbing a third, with Sammie Macdonald converting one.

With the wind behind them in the second half though, Leigh fought back.

Impressive number eight Carla Winstanley went over twice and Rachel Downs’ try, converted by Helen Pennington, levelled the score to leave the game finely poised.

As the match appeared to be heading for a draw, Robyn Birchall popped up for Leigh and scored the winner in the closing seconds.
