Manx Hockey Association’s annual awards presentation ceremony was held at the Claremont Hotel recently.
As headline sponsor of the leagues, PwC presented the awards for the respective divisions.
The indoor leagues kicked off the season and Ramsey Crookall Bacchas A picked up the winner’s trophy in both the men’s and mixed competitions, while Cannacord Genuity Wealth Management Vikings A took home the trophy for the women’s league.
The Under-16 Mixed League brought success for Cannacord Genuity Wealth Management Vikings before Christmas and Saracens in the new year as winners, with Harlequins finishing as runners-up in both leagues.
The senior Mixed Division Three winners were Crowe Morgan Valkyrs D, while the honours in Mixed Division Two were Castletown Cammags. Mixed Division One was won by Ramsay LJ A with the Premier League title heading the way of Ramsey Crookall Bacchas A.
Colts were the winners of Men’s Division Two and Vikings B sealed promotion back into the Premier League by securing the honours in Men’s Division One.
Clinching the Premier Division title was Ramsey Crookall Bacchas A helped by the goals of Andrew Whiting who picked up the award for leading goalscorer.
Saracens A won the Women’s Division Two with Ramsey Crookall Bacchas B lifting the trophy in Women’s Division One, while Vikings A took the honours as Premier Division winners for an amazing 10th year in a row. Once again, the excellent Kim Carney was the leading goal scorer in the women’s top flight.
The awards for the Bridgewater Cup and Plate competitions were also presented, with Bacchas A scooping the Mixed Cup award and Saracens Sabres were the winners of the Mixed Plate.
Ramsey LJ B won both the Men’s and Women’s Plates with Bacchas A and Vikings A clinching the Men’s and Women’s Cups respectively.
The Individual awards were presented by Vikings Office Systems, the sponsors of the Isle of Man men’s and women’s national teams.
The Young Player of the Year awards were won by Luis Novo-Smith and Freya Duchars, while George Harrison collected the Most Improved Young Player of the Year prize.
Goalkeepers of the year accolades went to Sarah Pressley and Greg Turner, while Kim Carney added the Indoor Player of the Year award to her collection.
Imogen Manning and Jamie Brown won the senior players of the year. The experienced Peter Foxton won umpire of the year and the final prize of the night was won by Dee Gimbert who picked up the prestigious Major Crellins award for her contribution to hockey in the island.
