James Hind added to his burgeoning reputation with a thrilling display in Wednesday evening’s delayed three-lap Lightweight Manx Grand Prix.

The 19-year-old from Market Raisen produced a dominant performance as he twice lowered the race’s lap record on his way to a near 30-second victory over Francesco Curinga.

Hind’s second lap on the 250 Yamaha of 19 minutes 26.372 seconds (116.45mph) lowered the was nearly 17 seconds inside Richard Quayle’s previous class record.

Irishman Dave Butler completed the top three a further 20 seconds down on Italian Curinga.

The podium trio were nearly a minute ahead of fourth-placed man Chris Moore, such was the pace at the front of the field. Glen Vine’s David Quine was ninth and Peel’s Marc Colvin 10th.

Port Erin’s Gavin Brown was 16th, Foxdale’s Steven Beale 48th and Douglas’ Robbie Nelson 29th.
