Mark Higgins is now a four-time British champion, having added the 2018 Rallycross title to the three British Rally Championships won previously.
Following his success at Silverstone, Mark tweeted: ’Today has been a great day and fantastic to win my fourth British title over three decades, it’s also my third British championship win with EddieStobart.com as my sponsor. A massive thank you to all our sponsors, my family and everyone for their kind messages and support.’
The Toyo Tires MSA British Rallycross Championship went down to the wire on Sunday, with the popular manxman emerging victorious from a three-way title tussle to be crowned champion.
With a deficit of six points to make up on series leader Ollie O’Donovan, the Albatec Racing driver kicked his pursuit of championship glory off in emphatic style as he charged from sixth on the grid to take victory in the first round of qualifying heats.
Higgins started from pole position in the final, having also won his semi-final, serving up a flawless drive in his Peugeot 208 to take a third win of the year and, with it, the 2018 title.
’It’s been a highly emotional year with big highs, and very big lows but that’s motorsport as we know,’ said Mark.
