Manx race walkers Tom Partington, Erika Kelly and Mia Dunwell had a successful trip to Birmingham for the British Indoor Athletics Championships on Sunday.
There were medals for Tom and Erika, while teenager Mia had her best indoor race to date.
In front of a packed crowd at the National Indoor Arena, the women raced first.
Northern AC walker Kelly was part of a three-way sprint for the silver and bronze in the 3,000-metre event behind the clear winner Bethan Davies (Cardiff).
She ultimately lost out to junior competitor Hannah Hopper (Cambridge) by half-a-second in the final straight, but hung on to take bronze in a time of 14min 24.64s ahead of Abigail Jennings (Aldershot).
Club mate Dunwell, 16, made a steady start in the same race, picking up the pace in the second half to be rewarded with a personal best time of 15m 54.68s and an excellent sixth place.
The result of the men’s 3,000-metre event was a direct copy of the English championships in early January.
Walking in the familiar colours of Manx Harriers, Partington started confidently, vying for the lead with his Leeds training partner Chris Snook (Aldershot) for 10 laps.
Over the closing kilometre Snook turned the screw and eased ahead to take the win in a personal best time of 12m 27.2s.
Partington’s time was also an indoor pb of 12m 41.43s, eclipsing the pme he set when winning the England championship in January.
Third was Luc Legon (Bexley). Third was Luc Legon (Bexley).
The next race for all three will be at the English Track Championships in Coventry on March 19.
Dunwell will race over 5,000 metres while Kelly and Partington will be contesting the 10,000 metres, both hoping to dip below the Commonwealth Games consideration time.
