Ramsey Grammar School student Glen Quayle won silver at the Schools International Athletic Board Track and Field Games in Dublin over the weekend.

Two vaulters from each of the Home Nations of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales competed for their country.

The Isle of Man is not represented in its own right so Glen was picked alongside Frankie Johnson to vault for England.

Quayle and Johnson were both selected following on from their silver and gold (respectively) medal winning performances at the English School Games the previous weekend in Birmingham.

Glen’s competition went as well as it possibly could have with the end result being a silver medal and new personal best of 4.21 metres.

Frankie took the gold with a vault of 4.66m, Scotland’s Matt Chandler winning the bronze with 4.11m.

The Dublin competition now qualifies 15-year-old Glen to proceed to the Sainsbury’s School Games in Loughborough on September 1.
