With Storm Arwen playing havoc with the local hockey fixtures recently, it means this weekend will host some of the rescheduled matches.
Four games at Queen Elizabeth II High School are unusual in the fact that they are all between Valkyrs and Bacchas teams, while there are four more games scheduled to take place at the National Sports Centre.
In the Rossborough Men’s Premier League, Valkyrs B take on Bacchas A and with the latter’s form so far this season few will see anything but a Bacchas win.
Despite that, Valkyrs will be hopeful of getting on the scoresheet having not scored any goals so far this season. It isn’t a case of who will win but a case of by how much Bacchas win by.
Valkyrs B take on Bacchas A in the Rossborough Women’s Premier League, but the latter side haven’t had the greatest of starts in the league this year and Valkyrs B are a dangerous determined side to make mistakes against.
Although Bacchas A remain the favourites, Valkyrs B have the ability to frustrate their opponents and could, on their day, beat Bacchas A. Don’t be surprised if the westerners take a point or two from this game.
Rossborough Men’s Division One sees one of the early-season favourites, Harlequins A, take on Vikings C.
Although Harlequins don’t currently have any points on the board, they will be hopeful of kickstarting their season against a Vikings C side that have been missing a couple of key players this year.
Harlequins remain an incredibly skilful side capable of challenging even the best in the league on their day.
The only division that sees two matches this week is Rossborough Women’s Division One, with Vikings B looking to go level on points at the top of the table when they take on Castletown B.
Although Vikings are the favourites, Town B have a great defence and will be hopeful of causing an upset.
The other match sees Valkyrs C take on Bacchas B and, with both sides currently pointless in the league after one game, the two teams will be looking to kickstart their campaigns and keep pace at the top of the table.
Bacchas Colts have struggled for personnel in recent weeks and the news is that this week is no different.
They take on Valkyrs C with both sides sitting bottom of the league with no points, therefore they will be hopeful of putting clear space between each other at the bottom of the table.
Last but by no means least, Vikings C take on Bacchas C in Rossborough Women’s Division One.
Viking C currently sit top of the table after two wins out of two, but Bacchas C are yet to play this year so their form is unknown.
One thing is for sure, this is going to be a close league so any points either side picks up this weekend will be important.
