With the fixtures steadily ticking away, this Saturday could reveal the make up of some of the finalists for this season’s end-of-term silverware.

Douglas Celts host Ramsey B at Port-e-Chee in the Manx Trophy and a win for the former will mean that the finalists are confirmed as Douglas and Southern Nomads.

Douglas won the Manx Shield earlier in the season and started as favourites to take the Trophy title too.

They did, however, slip up once in the Shield and that was away at Ramsey B.

James Wren’s Ramsey side are struggling late on in the season.

Two big playmakers in Craig Long and Andy Wilson are both out long term and while experienced campaigners like Ben Harding remain in the squad, the forward power of Messrs Long and Wilson leave a big hole.

Douglas by contrast seem to be getting stronger and stronger and beat Manx Cup finalists Southern Nomads for the third time this season last Saturday.

On recent form, this has to be a Douglas win.

There are also two games in the Manx Bowl competition too.

The pick of these is at QEII School where the top two sides Vagabonds B and Western Vikings meet.

The winner will be confirmed through to the final while the loser will still have a good chance, but must wait for other results.

Vikings are the Bowl holders and have looked impressive.

They beat Vagas twice in the Manx Shield and must start as favourites here.

Kevin Mellor is of course the danger man for Vikings.

Vagas have a good bunch of young players and they are getting better from week to week and will put up a good fight.

The Manx Bowl game between Emerging Nomads and Castletown has been rescheduled for April 22.

A Town win ends Nomads’ season and would quite possible make Castletown’s.

Nomads are still in with an outside chance of making the final.

They need a win in this game when it is played and then require Vikings to beat Vagas.

Nomads would also need to win by more than 24 points when then play Vagabonds next Saturday.
