There are two matches in the Manx domestic competitions this weekend.
The biggest is without doubt the Manx Cup clash between Douglas Celts and Southern Nomads at Port-e-Chee.
These are without doubt the two top teams this season. They’ve met three times already with Douglas claiming three wins. They meet again next week too in the pair’s Cheshire Plate semi-final.
This week, however, the game is in the Cup and it’s really a make or break one for Nomads.
A defeat will mean they have no chance of making the final, while a win would leave the Southerners with one more to play but needing other results to go their way.
Douglas are the competition’s defending champions and while Nomads have some pretty talented youngsters, Douglas will be too strong for them this week.
Finally there is also some unfinished business in the Manx Shield where Emerging Nomads host Ramsey B at King William’s College.
Ramsey have a marginally better record than Nomads in the Shield, but suffered a big defeat in early January down at the Field of Dreams which suggests that Nomads may have that extra depth needed to grab a win.
