PDMS Southern Nomads secured their place in yet another Cheshire final with a 38-24 win away at Knutsford in the semi-final of the Cheshire Plate on Saturday.
Nomads led 21-10 at half-time. Captain Rob Keelan led from the front with two tries and there were supporting scores from Dylan Chambers, Tom Duggan, Jack Sleight and Ally Kelly with Mark Young adding four conversions.
Vagas picked up their first men’s win of the season when their B team beat Castletown 17-10 in a tight Manx Bowl encounter at Ballafletcher.
A Paul Drake try was the only score of the first-half and gave Castletown a narrow 5-0 half-time lead.
In the second half a Pete Faragher try levelled the scores before Jo Louw crashed over to put Vagas in front.
Cameron Findlay then stretched the lead with a score he converted himself. Vagas then parked the proverbial bus to survive a late Castletown rally which saw James Emmett cross for a try which brought them to within a score.
