With no league rugby this weekend, the focus will turn to the Manx Shield competition where there are three games.

The two leading sides PDMS Southern Nomads and defending champions Douglas Celts will both fancy their chances of maintaining their winning runs.

Nomads face Castletown at King William’s College and while Town are no doubt in a better place than they have been for several seasons, a game against Nomads is always likely to be tough.

Nomads’ second string Emerging Nomads make the trip to the defending champions and they will find their encounter similarly tough.

The tie of the round is likely to be at QEII where Western Vikings host Vagabonds B.

The Peel men were impressive last week with Peter Crowe and Danny McElroy both outstanding at back row and centre respectively.

Vagas should find personnel a little easier to come by this week with no first team and should put up a good battle, although if Vikings can keep last week’s form, they should take the win.
