There are three games scheduled in the Manx Shield this Saturday as the competition heads towards its Christmas break.

Holders Douglas Celts head to Castletown, leaders Southern Nomads entertain Western Vikings while Ramsey B host Vagabonds B.

Castletown picked up a walkover last Saturday which saw them climb to a lofty third place in the early standings.

While the compact Poulsom Park pitch may suit them, I suspect that Douglas Celts will be too strong for them and should pick up a comfortable win.

At King William’s College the new leaders PDMS Southern Nomads face Western Vikings.

The Peel men haven’t played for almost a month and while they should be well rested, they could be a little rusty.

Nomads were impressive at Ramsey B last week and will have just too much firepower for Vikings and look likely to pick up maximum points.

On paper, the tightest game of the round sees the two B teams scrap it out at Mooragh Park as the curtain-raiser for the league derby.

Vagas started the season well but have had some personnel struggles lately and Ramsey will want to take full advantage if they can. Reece Noden and Nico Gantous give Ramsey some pace out wide and if they can get some ball to them they may just turn Vagas over.
