Vagabonds rugby club’s under-10s side has recently returned from a successful tour of Liverpool.
Captained by Cai Lewis they started their successful campaign against Sefton RFC with a comfortable victory.
The team began well with strong defensive efforts from Emma Callow and Ruben Russel-Dunn combined with some strong running from Tadgh Hall and Darcy O’Connor.
Vagabonds, having benefitted from a good start, continued positively in the second half with some positive passages of passing from Nathan Wylie and Jackson Bowers.
Cai Lewis and David Skillicorn were among the try scorers as Vagas ran out winners 15 tries to seven.
Day two started with a game against Hoylake RFC. Vagas started slowly in what against a far more physical team but rebounded well with Fynn Bradley and Connal Bedford defending well and Toby Thompson making lengthy runs releasing pressure.
With the lead changing hands on several occasions the final score ended in a 6-6 draw which was reflective of the game as a whole.
With a quick turnaround Vagas then played Oxton Parkonians in what was again a very physical encounter with Emma Callow and Tadgh Hall stepping up again defensively with some barn-storming runs and crunching tackles.
In what was a well-balanced game, Vagas ended up victorious 4-3 thanks to a last- minute try.
Vagabonds would also like to take this opportunity to thank sponsors Chrystals, Robinsons, AC Electrical, James Clarke Plumbing and Heating, IoM Farmers, Sporting & Dining Club and the Rovers Return for their support in making this trip possible.
