Lesley Sleight won two silver medals at the recent IFAA European Field Archery Championships held in Hohegeiss, Germany.
Lesley was selected to compete for England in the team of nations competition, winning a silver.
England were leading over the first four days but hosts Germany clinched it on the fifth day with Estonia claiming bronze.
The Bowderyn Vannin Field Archery Club member also finished second in the female traditional recurve class.
Despite five challenging courses set in a ski resort, Lesley improved her pb in the field round by five points and in the hunter round by 13 . More than 700 European archers competed in the championships.
Lesley said: ’I am pleased with my performances as there were some very difficult shots.
’The target sizes are quite small with the biggest face being 65cm and shot at a distance from 55 to 80 yards. Shorter distances have smaller targets the smallest being 20cm.
’I have been training full time this year having taken a secondment from teaching. It was a good decision to take a year out as I have seen a marked improvement in my shooting.
’I have been selected to represent England in international competitions and won three world medals and two European.
’My last international competition this year will be competing for GB at the World 3D Championships in France in September.’
