Six Team RL360 youth riders qualified for the British national final of Cycling Time Trials’ youth 10-mile championship at the district heat.
The event was held on the Jurby 10 course the Wednesday before last, generously sponsored for the fifth year in succession by Eurocycles in memory of the late Chris Harrison who won the national final outright in 1989.
Conditions on the night were perfect for time trialling, with many of the 17 starters producing personal best times.
Will Corkill, Tyler Hannay and Aaron Lund gained automatic entries to the final as the fastest three individuals and also as the top team of three.
British national circuit race silver medallist Corkill was the quickest, clocking 22min 10sec to pip runner-up Hannay by a slender margin of two seconds. Lund was a further 48 seconds back in third place.
Fourth-placed James Harrison missed out on qualification by seven seconds.
Shellan Leeming (13th in 28.52) booked her place in the final as the fastest girl, with Jack Christian (fifth in 23.21) and Niall Colquitt (ninth in 25.57) joining her as the quickest in their respective age groups.
After the event all of the competitors were presented with Cycling Time Trials commemorative medals and certificates, while the qualifiers received Eurocycles vouchers.
Tyler Annis, Ralf Holden and Nick Kissack picked up special awards for improving their PBs by the largest margins.
